ABOUT
Hi, I'm Claudia! In the past couple of years, from being part of Spring Street Community Garden in downtown, Los Angeles, then joining the Altadena Community Garden after moving to the foothills of Altadena, and maintaining a small vegetable garden in my backyard, I have become an avid urban gardener.
I studied fine arts and fashion and I have worked in the fashion industry for my entire career, having worked in design, sourcing, product development, and pre-production. I've learned a thing or two about the fast-paced fashion cycle we've culturally come to accept as the norm and have decided, alternately, to embrace a more mindful approach to consumption by buying -if possible - locally, independently, sustainably, or second-hand/vintage - and this applies not just to clothing.
Farmer Claude is an online shop for gardening and farmer's market related items, as well as products for cooking and self-care, featuring locally sourced products as well as globally designed and crafted items. I wanted to combine my love of gardening, desire to support the work of small farmers by buying locally grown produce, passion for design, and philosophy of urban sustainable living. Farmer Claude focuses on selling products that promote a more holistic lifestyle that celebrates artisanship, craftsmanship, and community.
The idea of community is very important to me and I wanted Farmer Claude to be able to have social impact. Farmer Claude advocates for food and environmental justice and 10% of all proceeds will be donated to a non-profit organization that is fighting for food justice equality on the local or national level.
Farmer Claude aims for all packaging to be zero waste by choosing biodegradable materials.
